Ranchers -- Oregon, Eastern

John Creighton (1834-1884) a pioneer of 1858, came first to Washington and later became a rancher in Oregon, where married Mary J. McCully of Salem. Mary McCully's father, David McCully, invested in some of Creighton's enterprises. The collection (1867-1885) contains correspondence, clippings of the Creighton and McCully family and related family members, receipts, bills, certificates, and other papers.

Clyde L. Kiddle (1891-1969) was a native of Iowa who came to Oregon in 1896, served in the Oregon state Senate for one year in 1937, and then resigned in 1938 for a federal position with Oregon agriculture. The collection (1937-1938) contains letters from constituents, personal correspondence, scrapbook pages, bills introduced by Kiddle, Senate committee information, subject files, and biographical material.

Joseph Nathan Teal (1858-1929) was an Oregon rancher, lawyer, investor, and civic leader who was an advocate of waterways development, and served as U.S. Shipping Commissioner from 1920-1921. The collection contains a manuscript of a series of reminiscences of ranch life during the 1850s through the 1870s, in eastern Oregon, that Teal wrote down for his family in 1921.
