John Smith Griffin (1807–1899) was an Oregon pioneer and missionary. The collection consists of promissory notes from Griffin to fellow missionary Harvey Clark for a South Tualatin land claim.
Robert Moore (1781-1857) was a politician and pioneer in the Oregon Territory. The collection consists of Robert Moore's promissory note to the United States Government in the amount of one thousand dollars for the right to land that would become Linn City, Oregon.
The office of Oregon State Treasurer was officially established when Oregon was recognized as a state in February of 1859. The collection consists of a single promissory note issued in April of 1848.
