Don Holmald (d. 2002) was a staff writer for The Oregonian and author of novels, novelettes, company histories, short stories, and articles. The collection includes manuscripts, correspondence, published material, newspaper material, and memorabilia.

Fred Lockley (1871-1958) was a columnist, and also manager of newspapers in the Pacific Northwest, a rare book dealer, and an author of books on Oregon and Pacific Northwest history. The collection contains a letter dated June 20, 1916, from Lockley to Charles S. Jackson, in which Lockely offered to report about an Oregon military unit going to Mexico.

Charles S. Jackson (1860-1924) was the owner of the Portland, Oregon newspaper, Oregon Journal. The collection contains a letter dated July 14, 1914, from John Riis of Portland, Oregon to Jackson regarding the lack of Portland news coverage in Jackson's newspaper.
