The collection contains a letter dated February 24, 1884, from H. L. Barret, of Birch Creek, Oregon to Thomas R. Cornelius. In the letter, Barret reports on snow and wagon travel in the mountains, his oxen, and the the trials of travel.

Smith C. Bartrum was an Oregon forest ranger who was involved in building trails, and who became the first Supervisor of the Umpqua National Forest. The collection (1899-1942) consists of Bartrum's autobiography, and also correspondence, monthly salary statements, and poetry.

Lake Bechtell (1886 -1977) was a lawyer who became City Attorney of Prineville, then was elected to the City Council in 1921, to the office of Mayor in 1925, and served as District Attorney for Crook County, 1928 to 1953. The collection contains legal files regarding livestock companies, grazing and irrigation districts, mining claims, and railroads, 1918-1963.

Abstract Welborn Beeson was a farmer in Jackson County, Oregon during the late 1800s. The Beeson family came overland to Oregon in 1853, settling in Jackson County along Wagner Creek. In 1851, when Welborn Beeson was fifteen years old, he began to keep a diary and continued to do so until his death in 1893. In 1870, Rollin Simeon Belknap claimed a hot springs site located in Oregon, in the western foothills of the Cascade Mountains, that is now known as Belknap Hot Springs. The collection contains a letter of June 5, 1872, from Belknap to A. Gibbs, asking Gibbs to pass on a bottle of water (that was sent with the letter) to a chemist for tests, as the springs he found were said to be good for healing. (The bottle is not included in the collection).

Royal Augustus Bensell (1838-1921) served as a corporal in the California Infantry during the American Civil War, was assigned to Ft. Yamhill, Oregon for three years, and later moved to Yaquina Bay, Oregon. The collection (1862-1864) contains a diary kept during his service, and scrapbook.

Earl R. Biggs (1897-1968) investigated sex crimes for the Portland police department. He wrote two books, How to Protect Your Child from the Sex Criminal, and Sex, Science and Sin, and was instrumental in reforming Oregon's sex crimes laws in the 1950s. The collection contains correspondence, including one folder devoted to letters from Alfred C. Kinsey; notes on sex crimes cases investigated by Biggs; and copies of his two books.

The collection contains a letter dated February 9, 1887, by Bowditch to (Judge?) L. R. Webster regarding a bill that would lower the salary of circuit court judges.

Walter S. Bowman (1865-1938) was a professional photographer who worked in Pendleton, Oregon, from the late 1880s to the mid 1930s. Bowman’s photographs document daily life in Eastern Oregon, including special events such as the Pendleton Round-Up. The collection consists of almost 800 negatives and prints representative of the span of the photographer's work, but his noted images of tribal people were largely destroyed after his death.
