Abstract Charles F. Bulfinch lived in Weston, Oregon. By age 17 he had joined the army. The Charles F. Bulfinch Papers consist of a dairy of his 1898 trip to Alaska and the Klondike region. The trip began in March and he returned home to Weston in October of the same year. The diary contains daily entries, sketches, food recipes, and one photograph of Bulfinch at age 17.

Abstract The collection contains a letter dated September 13, 1896, from Fred D. Van Wagenen, a lawyer in Seattle, Washington, to his mother (Ann Van Wagenen?) of New York. In the letter, he describes an Alaska mining trip and meeting Father Barnum, a Jesuit missionary and cousin to P.T. Barnum.
