Abstract

Earl R. Biggs (1897-1968) investigated sex crimes for the Portland police department. He wrote two books, How to Protect Your Child from the Sex Criminal, and Sex, Science and Sin, and was instrumental in reforming Oregon's sex crimes laws in the 1950s. The collection contains correspondence, including one folder devoted to letters from Alfred C. Kinsey; notes on sex crimes cases investigated by Biggs; and copies of his two books.

Abstract

The Feminist and Lesbian Periodical Collection contains 482 lesbian and feminist periodical titles including 36 Oregon titles and 31 international titles. Approximately 80 percent of the entire collection contains titles published during the 1970s. This collection does not duplicate circulating holdings in the UO Libraries for feminist and lesbian topics.

Abstract Grace Hutchins (1885-1969) was a Communist and radical labor economist who lived and worked in New York City with her partner, Anna Rochester. Abstract Ruth Mountaingrove (1923- ) is a feminist, lesbian, writer, publisher and photographer who lived and worked with many of the intentional communities of Southern Oregon. Ruth Mountaingrove is a photographer, writer and artist who moved to Oregon in 1971, settling in communes and eventually co-founding Rootworks, a lesbian community in Southern Oregon. The collection consists of 21 VHS videotapes of Mountaingrove relating the story of her life by talking, dancing, and singing.
