Major Benjamin Alvord of Fort Vancouver, Washington Territory, wrote a letter dated July 16, 1863 to J.M. Sutton of Jacksonville, regarding fighting in the Rogue River Valley. The collection contains the letter, which references Jesse and Lindsay Applegate.

Before, during, and after World War II, Ulius "Pete" Louis Amoss (1895-1961) engaged in espionage. His work included directorship of the OSS during the war and founder and director of the ISI, the International Services of Information Foundation, Incorporated. Amoss is credited with the coining the phrase "leaderless resistance." The collection includes correspondence, literary manuscripts, espionage material, and print material that reflect his life and work as a spy.

Abstract Welborn Beeson was a farmer in Jackson County, Oregon during the late 1800s. The Beeson family came overland to Oregon in 1853, settling in Jackson County along Wagner Creek. In 1851, when Welborn Beeson was fifteen years old, he began to keep a diary and continued to do so until his death in 1893. Lemuel Evans Boren (1879-1961) served in the infantry in Cuba and in the Philippine Islands, was appointed inspector in the Philippine Constabulary in 1901, promoted to major, and resigned in 1909. Abstract Frazier Augustus Boutelle was an army officer who served in the Civil War, and also in various frontier posts in Oregon, Texas, Montana, and California. From 1889 to 1890, he was superintendent of Yellowstone National Park, and in 1895 became adjutant general of the state of Washington. Simon R. Bowermeister was an enlisted man who served in Company D., 3d Regiment, Virginia Mounted Riflemen during the American Civil War. Bowermeister died in a Confederate prison in 1864. The collection (1863) contains letters written to Harriet A. McConnell describing a soldier's life.

Walter S. Bowman (1865-1938) was a professional photographer who worked in Pendleton, Oregon, from the late 1880s to the mid 1930s. Bowman’s photographs document daily life in Eastern Oregon, including special events such as the Pendleton Round-Up. The collection consists of almost 800 negatives and prints representative of the span of the photographer's work, but his noted images of tribal people were largely destroyed after his death.
