Joseph Leroy Dodds correspondence

Abstract

Joseph LeRoy Dodds (1891 - 1973) worked in India as a Presbyterian missionary in 1917, and in 1932, Dodds was appointed secretary of the India Council of the Presbyterian Board of Foreign Missions, and four years later he became secretary of the Board itself. The collection (1917-1958) contains correspondence and notes pertaining to trips Dodds made to China, the Near East, and Iran, as well as to his early experiences in India as teacher and instructor at the seminary.

Dr. Frederick Gilman Scovel (born 1902) and his wife Myra Scovel (August 11, 1905- August 26, 1994) were missionaries overseas for the United Presbyterian Church for almost thirty years. The works in this collection are a collection of correspondence, diaries, manuscripts and other miscellaneous items that represent the Scovels’ missionary work and their time spent overseas.

Abstract The Sheldon and Fife families were joined by the marriage of Sidney R. Sheldon and Eunice M. Fife in 1916. Sidney Sheldon was an engineer, and Eunice Fife was the daughter of Presbyterian missionaries to India. The collection contains genealogical materials, correspondence, diaries, India mission materials, sermons, Nanyang University (Shanghai, China) documents, and maps.
