Scope and Contents

The Katherine Albert and Dale Eunson papers contains manuscripts for plays, screenplays, teleplays, and short stories. Dale Eunson, Katherine Albert Eunson’s husband, coauthored the plays, screenplays, and teleplays, which include: And be my Love for Ironside, The Cello for The Human Comedy, The Empty Room, Gidget Goes to Rome, The Gilded Orphan, Homecoming for Father of the Bride, Iron Butterfly, Loco, Me and Benjy, Stand-in for Murder, and Under the Southern Cross. The collection also contains three short stories authored solely by Katherine Albert Eunson: "Follow, Follow, Little Swallow," "The Lucky Man," and "There’s Nothing To It."

Biographical / Historical

Katherine Albert (1902-1970) and Dale Eunson (1904-2002) were authors, playwrights, and screenwriters who collaborated as husband and wife on several works until Albert’s death in 1970. The couple authored Broadway plays, including Loco, scripts for films such as On the Loose (starring their daughter, Joan Evans), Sabre Jet (starring Robert Stack), and The Star (starring Bette Davis), as well some television scripts for Leave It to Beaver and Little House on the Prarie, among others. Albert and Eunson married in 1931, having their only child, Joan Evans, in 1934.
