Scope and Contents

The Dave Blunt papers contains correspondence, photographs, ephemera, and a pair of indoor track spikes made by Bill Bowerman in 1963. Blunt ran all indoor meets during 1963-1965 on these shoes, including a 60 yd dash in 6.1 seconds at the 1964 Portland Indoor Meet. This effort won him 2nd place behind fellow UO athlete Harry Jerome’s world record of 6.0 seconds.

Biographical / Historical

Dave Blunt was a member of the University of Oregon track and field team from 1962-1965. He competed in sprint distances (60yd, 100 yd, 220yd, 440yd relay). Blunt was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity, and the Order of the O.
