Biographical / Historical
Wirt Minor (1855-1921) was a lawyer in Portland, Oregon. Minor was born in Charlottesville, Virginia March 15, 1855. He graduated from the University of Virginia. At 25 Minor moved to Oregon. Minor worked at a law practice in Pendleton, Oregon and became a partner of I.B. Cox. Minor moved to Portland, Oregon with Cox in 1890. In Portland they established the firm Cox, Teal & Minor. The firm later changed to Teal, Minor & Winfree. Minor served as the president for the Oregon Bar association. He was an active member of social clubs. At the time of his death Minor was the president of Waverley Country Club, and the Northwest Golf Association. Minor had previously served as president of the Arlington Club. He was a life member of the Multnomah Amateur Athletic Club. Minor did not marry and had no children. Minor died in his office in Portland, Oregon on September 27, 1921.
