Scope and Contents

Warren C. Price was a professor of journalism at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon, whose interests were in journalistic endeavors and legal matters of the state of Oregon in the case of Annette Buchanan. The collection contains Price's journalism annotated bibliographies and related writings, his dissertation on the history of the Eugene Register-Guard, and papers pertaining to the State of Oregon v. Annette Buchanan court case.

Biographical / Historical

Warren C. Price was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Arts and Masters degree, and later earned his doctorate from the University of Oregon, completing his disseration entitled "The Eugene Register-Gaurd: A Citizen of Its Community." Price joined the School of Journalism as a professor in 1942 while also serving as an editor of the Sunday edition of the Eugene Register-Gaurd for fifteen years. Price served as an Acting Dean of the University of Oregon School of Journalism, and was a notable recipient of the Sigma Delta Chi Distinguished Service Award for Research in Journalism, awarded in 1959, and the Kappa Tau Alpha Journalism and Mass Communications Honorary Society Research Award, awarded in 1960.
