Abstract

The Stereograph collection documents a photographic phenomenon of the 19th and early 20th century which brought world landscapes and peoples to the European and American public. The collection consists of images by anonymous and identified photographers, publishers and distributors. A variety of stereograph formats are represented.

Arrangement

The stereograph collection is arranged in two series:

Series I. By creator, 1862-1906 Series II. By title, 1865-1909

These series are intellectually arranged in alphabetical order.

Related Materials

Related collections have been established for holdings of major publishers and photographers: Underwood and Underwood, London Stereoscopic, Kilburn, Lawrence and Houseworth, Keystone, W. Henry Brown, J.M. Letts and J.D. Eagles, E. and H.T. Anthony, George W. Griffith, Haynes, Jackson Brothers, and E. Schuster. Stereo images may also be found in the works of Northwest Photographers. The stereos originally formed part of the Print Collection.
