Scope and Contents
The papers include sermons, outlines, and sermon notes, correspondence, manuscripts of short stories and articles, memorabilia, and Christian Celebrity Tyme materials including programs, notes, and sound recordings.
Series I: includes sermons, outlines and notes.
Series II: contains outgoing and incoming correspondence. Incoming letters are organized alphabetically by name or organization title.
Series III: contains manuscripts of short stories, articles, and other writings.
Series IV: consists of programs, notes, and reel to reel audio recordings of Christian Celebrity Tyme.
Series V: contains memorabilia.
The 1977 addendum contains additional Christian Celebrity Tyme recordings.
There are ninety-three reel to reel recordings in the collection. Recordings of Christian Celebrity Tyme consist of interviews with public figures. Among the persons interviewed are: Thomas Campbell Clark, Alma Crosby, Alvin Dark, Everett Dirkson, Clair Engle, Brooks Hays, Harry Holt, Hubert Humphrey, Estes Kefauver, Sherman Lollar, Mary Margaret McBride, Almer S. (Mike) Monroney, Wayne L. Morse, Thruston B. Morton, Hugh Murchison, Parry O'Brien, Jesse Owens, James Cash Penney, Mary Pickford, Norris Poulson, Adam Clayton Powell, Roy Rogers, Eleanor Roosevelt, Hugh Scott, Stuart Symington, Ralph Yarborough, Paul Douglas, Stephen Young, John F. Kennedy, J. Roosevelt, Enos Slaughter, Alfred Jones, Dale Alford, Carroll Kearns, John L. McClelland, and Con Robinson.

Biographical / Historical
Haywood P. Sconce was a Baptist minister, born in Wirth, Arkansas and educated at Oklahoma Baptist University and Central Theological Seminary. He served congregations in Oregon and Washington, and in 1954 founded and became director of Christian Celebrity Tyme, a religious radio program.
