Scope and Contents

The papers include a carbon manuscript of Children of the Covered Wagon (Crowell, 1934) and three original illustrations for the book by Robert Kuhn. There are also manuscripts of poems and letters from readers.

Biographical / Historical

Mary Jane Carr (1895-1988) was born in St. Mary's, Minnesota, and educated at Marylhurst College in Oregon. She was associate editor of the Catholic Sentinel and feature writer for the Portland Oregonian.

Collection comprises papers of American author Mary Jane Carr, and includes draft manuscripts of two books; proofs, illustrations by Robert Kuhn, and correspondence relating to the books, including material from Walt Disney Productions; two puppet plays by Carr; poems; engraving plates; fan letters; and miscellaneous materials.
