Biographical/Historical note
Nathan Gellert (1889-1959) was a graduate of the Sheffield Scientific School, Yale University, and worked for utilities companies in Philadelphia and New York and as head of the Gellert Engineering Company, specializing in design and construction of gas plants and problems of gas technology. As vice-president in charge of operations, Atlantic Gas Company, he managed its subsidiaries during a change-over to natural gas. He was president of the Board of Directors, Seattle Gas Company, and active in the introduction of natural gas to the Pacific Northwest.
