Scope and Contents
The collection contains scrapbook contents, correspondence, mementos and reels of 16mm film from Fluhrer's service in WWII
Scrapbook contents include letters/journal entries from Fluhrer written while he served in WWII. The writings describe his experiences and his unit's activities. The scrapbooks also contain mementos, photographs, and clippings.
The films are 16mm, and are a mix of black and white, and color film. One reel has sound, the remaining are silent film. Films include footage from the following locations: Cairo, Baghdad, Karachi, Paris, Edinburgh, London, Cassino, Rome, Milan, Mont Blanc, and Genoa. Film contents also includes one reel titled "Famous Germans out of Concentration Camps," and "'Bad News' Crossing Atlantic" which features an airplane named 'Bad News'.

Conditions Governing Access
Collection is open to the public. Collection must be used in Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room. Collection or parts of collection may be stored offsite. Please contact Special Collections and University Archives in advance of your visit to allow for transportation time. Collection includes sound recordings, moving images, and digital files to which access is restricted. Access to these materials is governed by repository policy and may require the production of listening or viewing copies. Researchers requiring access must notify Special Collections and University Archives in advance and pay fees for reproduction services as necessary.

Property rights reside with Special Collections and University Archives, University of Oregon Libraries. Copyright resides with the creators of the documents or their heirs. Biographical / Historical
William Henry Fluhrer (1899-1948) was born on the Oregon Trail to parents John and Elizabeth Fluhrer. He inherited his parent's bakery business located in Medford, Oregon. He also became president of First Federal Building and Loan Association.
He served in WWI and WWII. In WWII he served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force and remained an avid flyer all his life. He later became the commanding officer for the Southern Oregon unit of the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

Abstract
William Henry Fluhrer inherited his parent's bakery business located in Medford, Oregon, became president of First Federal Building and Loan Association, served as a Lt. Col. in the Air Force during WWII, and later became the commanding officer for the Southern Oregon unit of the U.S. Air Force Reserve. The collection contains scrapbook contents, correspondence and mementos from his service in WWII, and 10 reels of 16mm film.
