Scope and Contents note
The collection consists of an unpublished manuscript written by Robotham, From Kingsbridge to Tottenville: Books for the Use of the People , a work that details the history of the New York Public Library system. This collection also contains two, 16 mm copies of Mr. Robotham's kinetic poem, Witches Brew , and paper versions of this work and several other of Mr. Robotham's kinetic poems.

Collection is open to the public. Collection must be used in Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room. Collection or parts of collection may be stored offsite. Please contact Special Collections and University Archives in advance of your visit to allow for transportation time. Collection includes sound recordings, moving images, and digital files to which access is restricted. Access to these materials is governed by repository policy and may require the production of listening or viewing copies. Researchers requiring access must notify Special Collections and University Archives in advance and pay fees for reproduction services as necessary.

Biographical/Historical note
John Stanley Robotham was born in New Hampshire on February 12, 1924 to Reginald and Edna Strang Robotham, of England and New Jersey respectively. He served during World War II in the Army Air Force weather service, and graduated from the City University of New York and Columbia Library School. After graduation, Mr. Robothan worked as a librarian for the New York Public Library; his unpublished work, From Kingsbridge to Tottenville: Books for the Use of the People , is evidence of his interest in the history of the branch libraries of the New York Public Library. Mr. Robotham moved to Eugene in the 2000, where he became a member and fellow of the Native Plant Society of Oregon. He passed away in Eugene on September 9, 2005.
