Scope and Contents
Collection contains thirty-six typed letters written to Herbert Thompson (Tommy) from Moray Applegate (living in Mexico at the time) discussing the Applegate family. There is also correspondence from Thompson to Moray's sister Alice Applegate Piel regarding Moray and the Applegate family history. A manuscript about Moray's life believed to be written by Thompson is also included.

Biographical / Historical
Moray Lindsay Applegate was born in 1876 in Klamath County, Oregon, USA. He died on 29 Sep 1956 in Mexico. He is a descendant of the Applegate family who were early pioneers to Oregon and established the Applegate Trail. Herbert Cooper Thompson, journalist and writer, was born in Eugene, Oregon in 1875 and died in October of 1960. He was a graduate of the university of Oregon and veteran of the Spanish American war.
