Scope and Contents note
This collection documents the racial and cultural diversity of the Eugene-Springfield, Oregon area as of January 1996 through photographs provided voluntarily by community members. The collection contains personal photographs, envelopes, and notes relating to the photographs. Materials in the collection range in date from June, 1990 to January, 1996. Photos were collected through a call to community members by the University of Oregon Special Collections for the purpose of a display in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day 1996.

Collection is open to the public. Collection must be used in Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room. Collection or parts of collection may be stored offsite. Please contact Special Collections and University Archives in advance of your visit to allow for transportation time.

Biographical / Historical
This collection was created by the University of Oregon Special Collections for a photo exhibit celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 1996. Public requests were made for Eugene-Springfield community members to send family photos taken during December 1995 and January 1996 to the UO Special Collections. At the end of the exhibit, photos and related materials were retained by the UO Special Collections.
