Biographical/Historical note

Alexander Petrunkevitch was a zoologist and professor of zoology at Yale. He was born and raised in Russia, educated in Russia and Germany, and married Wanda Hartshorn of Newark, N.J.. His father, Ivan Il'ich Petrunkevich, was a political activist and a founder of the Constitutional Democratic Party.
