Scope and Contents
The collection (1940-1942) contains correspondence, a scrapbook, and material relating to his published recollections, titled Frontier Doctor.
The letters and scrapbook concern the publication of Coe's recollections of medical practice in Bend.
There is also a collection of reviews, a typed copy of an address by Coe about the writing of his book, and a set of galley proofs.

Biographical / Historical
Urling Campbell Coe (1881-1956) was born in Carthage, Missouri, and graduated from the Eclectic Medical College in Cincinnati, Ohio. He became a physician and practiced in Oregon. He moved to Bend, Oregon in 1905 and then to Portland in 1918.
