Simon R. Bowermeister was an enlisted man who served in Company D., 3d Regiment, Virginia Mounted Riflemen during the American Civil War. He wrote letters to Harriet A. McConnell from Beverly and New Creek, West Virginia. Bowermeister died in a Confederate prison in 1864.
