Scope and Contents
The Gertrude Mazen papers largely consist of a letter/diary which begins on July 11, 1926 and continues through to July 4, 1932. Although it seems as though Mazen was sending these letters to friends and relatives, there are not, in most cases, any names specifically mentioned in salutations and they read more like a diary. In 1952 Mazen submitted this letter/diary to Atlantic Monthly Press for publication, but it was rejected.
Also included are three letters written by her son, Glenn, in 1953 from Parks Air Force Base in California. One folder of loose papers consists mainly of songs and poems relating to a Christmas production given by Mazen's school children in 1929, but also inlcudes a page taken from a census of Waler in April 1928.
