Althea Moores' diary is a fairly detailed recital of events and social life in late 19th century Salem, Oregon. She describes her life after graduation during which she continued to live at home, did housework, took piano lessons, and participated in various social gatherings.

Althea Moores (1856-1883), of Salem, Oregon, was a student at Willamette University who graduated in 1877. In 1883, she died of consumption, shortly after having been appointed Professor of Modern Languages at Willamette University.
