Abigail Scott Duniway (1834-1915) was a leader in the women's suffrage movement in Oregon. The collection contains a letter dated April 11, 1914, that Duniway wrote to Barbara M. Booth, of Eugene, Oregon, in which Duniway describes her early education in Illinois, and her experiences as teacher in Oregon.

Abstract Abigail Scott Duniway (1834-1915) moved to Oregon from Illinois in 1852 with her family on the Oregon Trail and kept a detailed journal of their travels. Duniway was later a key leader of the Woman's Suffrage Movement in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest, and she aided the national effort. George Allan Dyson papers

Abstract George Allan Dyson was born in England in 1843 and his family moved to the United States soon after. In 1861 Dyson sailed to California to work in the gold mines. A few years later he moved to Brownsville, Oregon and established the town’s first newspaper, the Brownsville Advertiser, in 1878. Dyson mined in central Idaho in the 1880s, and moved to Eugene, Oregon in 1899, where he worked as a tinsmith until his death in 1935. Suzette Haden Elgin (November 19, 1936-January 27, 2015) was known for her extensive scholarly work in linguistics, the development of a feminist language called Láadan, and numerous publications in science fiction and other genres. Orval Etter is a former professor at the University of Oregon who founded the Pacifica Forum in 1994. He was a professor of planning, public policy and management. He was also a pacifist and a conscientious objector during World War II.
