The Independent Organization of Odd Fellows is a fraternal organization that traces its roots back to 17th century England; the first Odd Fellows lodge in Oregon was organized in 1852, in Salem. The collection (1891-1893) contains the transactions of Grand Master Abel D. Helman, of the Grand Chapter of Oregon.

Collection is comprised of dividend pay roll ledger number 19 for the Odd Fellows Hall Association in Portland, Oregon.

The collection contains a contract, dated June 7, 1869, between the Odd Fellows organization and William Braden for carpenter and joiner work on an Odd Fellows building in Portland, Oregon.

The collection contains a letter dated December 21, 1872 from N. O. Parker, a member of Fidelity Lodge no. 36, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) to J. T. Apperson, an IOOF Most Worthy Grand Master. The letter asks for a dispensation for Fidelity Lodge.

The collection contains a letter dated April 17, 1873, from (Oregon) Grand Secretary of the International Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF), Chester N. Terry, to J. T. Apperson, the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Oregon. In the letter, Terry informs Apperson that the brothers in Independence are now ready to institute their lodge and have set a date to do so formally.

The collection contains two letters, dated March 14th and 19th of 1873, from (Oregon) Grand Secretary of the International Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF), Chester N. Terry, to J. T. Apperson, the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Oregon. In the letters, Terry informs Apperson that about members who would like to form new lodges, other dispensation requests, and member news.
