Justin Chenoweth and Chenoweth family papers
Justin Chenoweth (1829-1898) was an Oregon pioneer and surveyor. Collection includes two containers of family letters, poems, important documents, Chenoweth's diary, and biographical and genealogical material.
Lewis C. Cooper deed
Lewis C. Cooper was an early resident of Portland. The collection consists of a deed transferring ownership of Cooper's Portland, Oregon Territory property to Thomas F. Scott.
Seth Luelling diary
Seth Lewelling's Diary recounts his travels from Cincinnati Ohio to California, accounts of his finances, poetry of Oregon and California written by family members, and a list of the names of the Luelling Family members.
James and Hannah Lloyd Neall papers
James Neall (1820-1903) was a pioneer, merchant, and entrepreneur from Philadelphia who established claims and businesses in Oregon and California. His wife, Hannah Lloyd Neall (1817-1912) was a cultural enthusiast and suffragist who wrote for numerous early California publications. The collection consists of reminiscences, correspondence, miscellaneous papers, bound volumes and a painted tin box.
Porter Family correspondence
Isabella Porter Spencer (1849-1924), of Ashland, was the daughter of James M. Porter of Iowa. The collection consists of both her own correspondence and that of her father.
William S. Prichard letters
Prichard left Polk County, Iowa in 1852; was in Marysville, Calif., in 1861; Union, Oregon, 1865-1867; and Rye Valley, Oregon, 1868-1869. In 1865, he built a toll road from Union to Express Ranch, Oregon, an investment that failed. His very occasional letters to a brother, Amos, and to other relatives in Iowa give a bare account of his experiences.
John Joseph Villair reminiscences
John Joseph Villair (1876- ) was an Oregon pioneer and resident of Josephine County. The collection consists of a typed transcription of Villair's reminiscences as told to John C. Kuhns (1887-1901).
Joseph Warren Wood journal
Joseph Warren Wood (1826-1914) was a Wisconsin farmer who sought his fortune in California during the gold rush. The collection consists of photocopies of Wood's journals chronicling his trip to California.
Albert Zieber diary and letters
Alfred Zieber (1830-1890) travelled overland from Peoria, Illinois to California. The collection consists of Zieber's diary of his journey, as well as four subsequent letters from his father, John S. Zieber.
