Anne Applegate was the great niece of Jessie Applegate and the grandaughter of Charles Applegate who are known for establishing the Applegate Trail in Oregon. Collection contains one, typed manuscript of her history of the Applegates in Oregon, particularly the Charles Applegate family of Yoncalla. Written between 1955 and 1960 from letters, diaries, and recollections.

Collection is comprised of a donation land patent for Clinton Kelly and his wife Moriah Kelly of Clackamas County, Oregon.

Autobiography of Anna Lee, written on July 1, 1898 and dedicated to her children and grandchildren. Describes her journey to Oregon in 1847. Includes references to Dr. Marcus Whitman.

Cyrus T. Locey (1835-) was a rancher and farmer in eastern Oregon and is often referred to as "the Father of Malheur Country." The collection includes Locey's 2,000 paged diary dating from 1859-1911.

G. P. Loomis (1819- ) was an Iowa farmer and Justice of the Peace. The collection consists of a 4 page, hand written letter to "Humphrey" of Harrisburg, Oregon Territory and a transcription of said letter.

Jesse Looney (1800-1869) was a pioneer farmer and early Oregon legislator. The collection consists of a typed transcript of a letter from Looney to his brother-in-law, John C. Bond.

Daniel H. Lownsdale (1803-1862) was one of the founders of Portland, Oregon. The collection consists of a single letter from Lownsdale to the "Honorable A. E. Wait" of Eugene related to a charge of claim jumping.

"Mack," of Corvallis, Oregon wrote a letter to his sister, dated February 22, 1863, in which he describes Patrick Malone, editor of Oregon Weekly Union (a Corvallis newspaper), and mentions the paper is about to close, and also that he expects to travel to California.

Charles Hiram Mattoon and Reuben C. Hill were both early ministers of Oregon, and Hill also served in the Oregon territory government, in 1857. The collection contains a letter of January 18, 1862 from Mattoon to Hill, warning Hill about rumours that he favored slavery.

John McClure was an Oregon pioneer and holder of a land claim that became Astoria, Oregon. The collection consists of a land sale agreement between McClure and business partners Herman C. Leonard and John Green.

Charles T. McDaniel was, for many years, a cashier of the Stockgrowers & Farmers National Bank of Wallowa, Oregon. The collection contains bank correspondence, personal and family correspondence, a travel diary, memorial letters, and a photograph album.

Job McNamee and D.H. Lownsdale were residents of the Oregon Territory that both claimed the same land. Collection contains two depositions consisting of three pages, each concerning land claims.

Walter E. Meacham (1879-1951) was a historian and Oregon Trail enthusiast. The Walter Meacham papers consist of correspondence, manuscripts, research notes, and a variety of materials associated with the Old Oregon Trail Association and Meacham's promotional activities.

Phil Metschan, Sr. (1840-1920) was born in Hesse-Cassel, Germany and travelled to the United States and settled in Canyon City, Oregon where he ran a store, became Oregon state treasurer, and established a hotel in Portland, Oregon. The collection contains correspondence, diaries, financial and legal records, pioneer family files, photographs and memorabilia.

Miles M. Miller, of Salem Oregon, wrote a letter dated July 30, 1868 , to L. J. Powell. The collection contains the letter in which Miller offers friendship, news, and reminds Powell that he has not yet paid his dues to the [Masonic?] Lodge.

Milton Shannon was the first postmaster of Monroe, Oregon, and he also owned a general store. The collection (1868-1876) contains a scrapbook of invoices and receipts.

The collection contains a letter from John Minto to William P. Lord, of Salem, Oregon, dated January 15, 1892. In the letter, Minto describes his experiences as an escort for Jesse Applegate, from 1847 to 1848, including travel through the Siskiyou mountains.

Fay Hampton Robertson compiled histories of the Moore, Hampton, and Dillard branches of her family. The collection consists of typewritten copies of those histories as well as the trail diary of Jonathan Limerick Moore (1830-1862).

Dorothy Morrison was an educator and writer. The collection includes manuscripts for two pieces, The Eagle and the Fort and Ladies Were Not Expected.

Nathaniel Myer's diary recounts his travels from Van Buren, Iowa to the Rogue River Valley of Oregon. His diary includes descriptions of the weather and landscapes along with events.

James Neall (1820-1903) was a pioneer, merchant, and entrepreneur from Philadelphia who established claims and businesses in Oregon and California. His wife, Hannah Lloyd Neall (1817-1912) was a cultural enthusiast and suffragist who wrote for numerous early California publications. The collection consists of reminiscences, correspondence, miscellaneous papers, bound volumes and a painted tin box.

The William T. Newby Papers contain a variety of information about Newby's overland crossing from Missouri to Oregon on the Oregon Trial in 1843. Newby was a member of the wagon train made famous by Jesse Applegate. The collection provides weather observations, account summaries, and personal experiences of living in and journeying to Oregon from 1843-1864.
