Henry Baldwin historical sketches
Henry Baldwin wrote historical sketches for a Marshfield, Oregon (now known as Coos Bay) newspaper, in 1879, that were based on a journal by L.L. Williams, which contained an account of an 1850 exploration party's encounter with "Indians" of Southern Oregon. The collection (1938) contains photocopies of the historical sketches, and a historical write-up by Sheldon Sackett about William's journal, the exploration party, and the Marshfield, Oregon newspaper, Weekly Coast Mail.

Thomas R. Cornelius, was an Oregon pioneer and a member of the Oregon Mounted Volunteers during the Cayuse and Yakima Indian Wars. The collection contains a deposition given by Cornelius on January 1, 1884 regarding the Oregon Mounted Volunteers.

Samuel Handsaker papers
Sam "Uncle Sam" Handsaker was an Oregon pioneer and veteran of the Rogue River Indian Wars. The collection consists of a typed copy of "Across the Plains," which is a transcription of a section of Handsaker's journal (1853).
J.M. Sutton account of the Rogue River Indian War of 1855
J.M. Sutton enquired, gathered information, and wrote an account of Rogue River Indian War of 1855; it is only known that he wrote the account, not that he participated in the war. The collection (1863) contains Sutton's account of the war, and a letter from Sutton, addressed to "Sir," explaining that he had "gleaned" his account from "enquires made."
U.S. District Court documents regarding the Whitman Massacre trial
In November of 1847, a small band of Cayuse warriors killed 14 settlers and took 53 others captive in what became known as the Whitman Massacre. The collection consists of photostat copies of court documents describing testimony brought against Tiloukaikt, one of the Cayuse leaders brought to trial for the crime.

Elijah White (1806–1879) was a missionary and agent for the United States government in the Oregon Territory. The collection consists of a bond issued by White for the sale of two lots to John Shively.
