Arthur and Ella Coole were Methodist missionaries serving in North China between the years 1924 and 1947. The collection includes correspondence, literary manuscripts, biographical information, missionary publications, scrapbooks, and other materials relating to the Coole's missionary work.

Abstract Charles Detweiler was a Christian missionary in Latin America. The Detweiler Papers consist of Detweiler's sermons, manuscripts and articles, which focus on the missionary field in Latin America. There are also religious pamphlets, photographs, and scrapbooks. This collection contains texts written in both English and Spanish. Some of the most interesting information in this collection pertains to Detweiler's first years of missionary service in Ecuador at the turn of the 20th century....

Emmet W. Gulley (1894-1981) became a missionary, as well as a professor and president of Pacific College (now George Fox College), and investigated the governmental relations between the Doukhobors and the Canadian government. The collection contains correspondence, administrative papers, articles, essays, pamphlets, and newspaper clippings regarding the Doukhobors and Gulley's mediation work, and a scrapbook that contains photographs of Doukhobors.

Edward Marsden was a Presbyterian missionary to the native peoples of Alaska. His parents were from the Tsimshian tribe. A strong advocate of Indian rights, and a believer in higher education for native peoples, Marsden founded a Presbyterian Church in the Tlingit tribe in Ketchikan, Alaska. The collection is comprised of letters, 1893-1928, scrapbooks that relate to Marsden's work as a missionary, and photographs.

Esther Morse (1898-1975) was a medical missionary in China and Pakistan. The collection contains correspondence, diaries, speeches, biographical information, scrapbooks, and photographs that offer a detailed picture of the experiences of a medical missionary woman whose life intersected with some of the most significant transitions in 20th century China and Pakistan.

Ben Wilson Olcott (1872-1952) became Oregon's Secretary of State, 1911-1919, and governor, 1919-1923 and as governor he opposed the anti-Catholic "School bill" of 1922. The collection consists of nine scrapbooks arranged by Olcott that contain official and personal material concerning his terms as a state official and include correspondence, press releases, speeches, newsclippings, and material relating to the Ku Klux Klan in Oregon.

The Shobundo senjafuda collection was compiled by Sato Masao, also known as Shobundo, in his capacity as an active member of the Yokohama nosatsu-kai as well as a fuda printer and enthusiast. Shobundo lived and worked in Yokohama, Japan and collected fuda between 1920 and 1990. Included in this collection are loose votive slips, votive scrapbooks, sketchbooks and publications, printing and pasting tools, as well as photographs of nosatsu-kai events and members.

Caroline (C.) Eleanor Spears (1876-1959) was a writer, suffragist, and a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU). The collection consists largely of collected printed material relating to suffrage (1915-1930) and temperance, (1918-1947), and to a lesser degree socialist politics and the Christian Science religion, and also includes general correspondence, manuscripts, diaries, and address books.

Charles G. Trimble (1884 - ) was a medical missionary in China. He was associated with the Methodist Mission in Foochow in 1914, and later with the Alden Speare Memorial Hospital in Yenping. The collection (1914-1964) contains correspondence, collected Chinese documents, and a few personal items.

Abstract William Bittle Wells worked in the Pacific Northwest as a manager, editor, advertiser, and writer for a variety of publications. In 1898 Wells founded the western magazine Pacific Monthly, which focused on the development of the pacific coast, literature, and humor. Wells became northwest editor and manger for Sunset Magazine from 1907-1912. Wells then became advertiser for Community Publicity, a publication produced by the Harriman Lines railroad.
