Abstract

The collection contains articles of agreement between Spokane Terminal Company of the state of Washington, and the Coeur d'Alene and Spokane Railway Company of the state of Idaho, concerning construction and use of steam and electric railway terminal facilities in Washington.

Orrin Stanley (1872-1969) was a construction engineer for the Chicago and Northwestern Railway, 1900-1907, and engineer for the city of Portland, Oregon, from 1912. Collection contains letters and blueprints from Stanley's career.

Joseph Nathan Teal (1858-1929) was an Oregon rancher, lawyer, investor, and civic leader who was an advocate of waterways development, and served as U.S. Shipping Commissioner from 1920-1921. The collection (1900-1926) contains correspondence regarding railroad administration and rate making, the single-tax movement, copies of letters by President Woodrow Wilson, and also information and photographs of Celio Canal construction.

The Thielsen family of Prussia and of America includes the following members: Bune Thielsen of Flensburg, Prussia, his son Hans Thielsen, who moved to Oregon, and Hans Thielsen's sons, Henry B., Horace W. and Julius. The collection contains correspondence, letter press books, business documents, maps and blueprints.

The collection consists of 163 snapshots of Oregon trolley and train stock. Lines represented include Oregon Electric, Portland Electric Power, Willamette Valley Railway, Portland Traction, and United Railways.

United States Spruce Production Corporation was incorporated in Washington, on August 19, 1918, and set out to manufacture Spruce products, especially for war planes during WWI. The collection (1918-1946) contains three volumes of corporate records including articles of incorporation, meeting minutes, correspondence and telegrams, lumber company information, and financial records.

United States Spruce Production Corporation was incorporated in Washington on August 19, 1918, and the Spruce Products Division was responsible for overseeing the logging of Northwest Spruce, and the manufacturing of Spruce products. The collection (1918-1919) contains orders and special orders, U. S. War Department memoranda, weekly bulletins, efficiency reports, correspondence, publications, liquidation files, and files on timber and railway companies.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is a federal agency that provides public engineering services. This collection includes a single bound photo album produced by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers depicting the construction of roads and bridges, including the first Rim Road, in Crater Lake National Park between 1913-1915. The album is initialed and likely assembled by Assistant Engineer George E. Goodwin.

Abstract William Bittle Wells worked in the Pacific Northwest as a manager, editor, advertiser, and writer for a variety of publications. In 1898 Wells founded the western magazine Pacific Monthly, which focused on the development of the pacific coast, literature, and humor. Wells became northwest editor and manger for Sunset Magazine from 1907-1912. Wells then became advertiser for Community Publicity, a publication produced by the Harriman Lines railroad.
