Abstract

The C. Girard Davidson Papers document the career of attorney, politician, and businessman Crow Girard "Jebby" Davidson (1910-1996). The collection is organized into major series concerning government projects, legal cases, political activities, and business interests. The majority of material related to Davidson's service as Assistant Secretary of the Interior (1946-1950) is housed in the Truman Presidential Library in Independence, Missouri.

Abstract Karl William Onthank (1890-1968) joined the University of Oregon staff in 1916 and held various posts until he became associate dean of students in charge of job placement in 1948, a position he held until his retirement in l957. In 1954 Karl and Ruth Onthank, together with other outdoor and conservation activists, formed the Friends of the Three Sisters Wilderness (F3S). Charles Orlando Porter was a lawyer in Oregon and a congressional representative of the fourth district of Oregon from 1957-1961. The collection contains his political and congressional papers from 1954-1961. Included are materials on bills introduced in the 85th and 86th Congresses. The majority of the collection consists of subject files. Porter’s 1954 campaign materials are also included.
