Abstract
Elizabeth Bishop was a poet who won the Pulitzer Prize for poetry in 1956 for her collection of poems titled Poems: North and South: A Cold Spring. The collection (1947-1950) contains original and typed transcripts of letters from Bishop to Carley Dawson, a book of poetry by Bishop, and a poem by Carley Dawson.

Carley Robinson Dawson is the daughter of composer Avery Robinson and Grace Chess Robinson, founder of the Mary Chess cosmetics business. She is a patron of belles lettres, the author of books for children and adults, and an ordained minister of Divine Science. The collection consists of papers and photographs. Lynd Ward was an artist and children's book author. The Lynd Ward Papers comprise incoming and outgoing correspondence to and from Carley Dawson, and outgoing correspondence to a Mr. Rohde. The collection also includes various notes, correspondence, manuscripts, sketches, copies of sketches, and illustrations for books, magazines, and brochures that Lynd Ward illustrated.
