Abstract Holway R. Jones was a prominent leader of the conservation movement in the Pacific Northwest from 1963, when he moved to Oregon, until his death in 1986. Jones was a librarian but he spent much of his time working on conservation issues. He served on the Sierra Club’s Board of Directors, 1973-1976, was chairman of the Publications Committee, 1974-1976, and of the National Wilderness Committee, 1972-1974, 1976-1978.
